School Magazine

A school magazine is about communicating the events that have happened around the school and presenting the pupils/school in a positive way.

Students will want to be portrayed in a positive light and be made to look good. This means that the images that are used have to be of a good quality and look relatively "cool".

The image I chose was of a Sixth Former it is in black and white because it is easier to see the text around the image as the background is very bright, clashing with the text on the front page. The image is a mid shot and there is some background seen behind the model. This shows some of the facilities offered by the school.

The text is clear and bright so people can clearly read it. It is also small so it does not clutter the page.

For the contents page I used photographs of happy students from all aspects of the school, The items mentioned in the contents page are relevant to all aspects of the school.

However, the text was boring and the layout was basic. When it came to my real magazine I want to make sure that the text isn't boring and the images are arranged in a more interesting way.

Another problem was that the images were not of the highest quality so this gave the magazine a rather unprofessional look. Also the descriptions of the photos was short and not very descriptive, this could be improved greatly. However, I did not want to clutter the page with texts disrupting the text to photo ratio.

The text for each article on the contents page are the same width apart, creating a clear distinctive layout. The text has been written in the same font and also the same size where relevant.
